Day in Saratoga

I have been promising my mother I’d take her to Lake George. Last week I had to work. This week the car broke down. I’m not sure when the car will be fixed. We decided to go to Saratoga Springs instead since it was closer and there would be a better chance her older car would make it there.

She shows up with a piece of paper for the Saratoga Gaming and Raceway. Of chorse the queen of gambling wants to go there.

I drove her car there since she doesn’t drive distances more than 20 minutes. We get there and I’m IDed. The gambling age is 18 in New York. I am 22. I only get IDed half the time to drink in bars.

We stand in a line to get me an Player Extras Club card for the machines. I do not like this idea. You slide the card into each machine your at. I feel they are recording my information. Also the fact they are all “video” gaming machines, meaning run but a computer. With the old fashion pull of the handle machines it seemed like you had a better chance of winning vs. the computer run thinking machines of today. I think the whole idea of gambling is to screw you over, even before I experienced it today.

My mum gave me $10. I wont spend money on gabling myself. I walked out with $15.30. My mum spent $23 on herself. She left with $0. I gave me $15 back to her. There is a difference between me and her. If I bet a dollar and now have 50 cents, I lost 50 cents. In her mind it means she has another 50 cents to play.

After getting her off the machines we went to Congress Park, didn’t stay long though since it looked like it was going to rain.

To Wilton Mall. I got a gift certificate to Bath & Body Works last Christmas. I normal don’t shop there since their prices are so high. They had a $5 shower gel sale. Meaning I could get two shower gels for the price of one. I got Sea Island Cotton and Freshwater Cucumber.

As I was walking out I saw a sign for “Frozen Bananas”. I haven’t had one in years. I spent $2.50 at the gourmet chocolate store for a Banana dipped in chocolate and peanuts. My mum got Dairy Queen.

We headed home after that.

Transmission Blew

I went for my job interview last night. It was short, that’s a bad things. I won’t know till next week though.

After that I went to Panera Bread and sat there from 5 PM – 9 PM using their wireless internet. I met a couple new people, one guy showed me some software to run C++, Java and Visual Basic on my PowerBook.

I just got new brake pad, rotors and something else I would tell you but I can’t read the messy mechanics handwriting. It cost me $342. I picked up my car yesterday afternoon to drive it to my interview. As I was coming home the car began racing and going up to 6 or 7 RPMs. I pulled over a couple times before calling AAA to come get me. The garage looked at my car this morning. My transmission went. The car is only a ‘96. Depending on the cost I have to decide to replace it with a used one, or get a another car.
